Overview of the Hydroclimatology Collections
The ORNL DAAC compiles, archives, and distributes data on streamflow and climatology. The data were collected with a range of frequencies (daily and monthly) and are from meteorological and streamflow discharge stations in the U.S.
The hydroclimatology data collection contains data that are specifically suitable for the study of surface-water conditions throughout the United States and its territories. The ORNL DAAC offers hydroclimatology data on two CDs and an on-line data set. The HCDN Streamflow CD consists of streamflow data for dates ranging from 1874-1988 measured at 1,659 sites throughout the U.S. and its territories. Daily mean, monthly mean, and annual mean, minimum, and maximum values of discharge are provided for each water year.

The U.S. Hydrology and Climatology CD-ROMs contain daily hydrometerorological data for the continental U.S.
from 1947-1988 as derived from daily stream discharge data collected by U.S. Geological Survey and from daily climatological data (precipitation, minimum temperatures, and maximum temperatures) collected by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) .
The on-line data set "USGS Hydro-Climatic Data Network (HCDN) Monthly Climate Database, 1951-1990" consists of records of average daily streamflow and climate at 1553 sites located throughout the United States. |
